Thrill Chaser · event-driven · dense world · relentless
Demo account. Games first, everything else on the side. Pacing is everything.

Momentum. Set pieces, stakes, a story that grabs they by the collar and does not let go until the credits.
Where it goes wrong: Speed can hide emptiness. Some of your five stars are adrenaline, not admiration.
More about the Thrill Chaser
- Avoids
- Drift. Contemplation without event feels like a waiting room, whatever the critics say.
- How they rate
- Your stars follow your pulse. Pacing and spectacle earn them; interiority has to bring an engine.
- Good company
- Genre Devotees and Cartographers ride along. Formalists find you impatient; you find them slow.
- Against the crowd
- You are close to the crowd on blockbusters and much harsher than it on the acclaimed and unhurried.
- More event-driven than almost every curator. character vs. plotcharacter-ledplot-driven 67%
- More dense world than almost every curator. world-buildingsparerichly built 60%
- More relentless than almost every curator. pacingcontemplativerelentless 58%

Taste fingerprint
Fourteen dimensions, read against every other curator.
Read this chart
Each spoke is one dimension; further out means a stronger lean that way than other curators. A big shape is a strong, unusual taste; a small one is close to the middle of everyone.
Ratings by medium
The dashed line is the mean. Kinder to books than films? It shows here.
Read this chart
One bar per star rating, one row per medium. Where the bars pile up is your habit; the dashed line is your average for that medium.
The taste map
Every curator with a profile, placed on the two directions taste varies most along. Archetypes cluster; Toby Nakamura is ringed.
Read this chart
Every curator, placed so that people with similar leans sit near each other. The two axes are the directions taste varies most along, found from all profiles. Neighbours are worth a look.
Toby Nakamura against the crowd
Every rated title with an audience score.
Read this chart
Each dot is a title: your stars up, the audience's average across. Dots above the line are where you were kinder than the crowd, below it harsher. A wide spread means you do not follow consensus.
Drift
How the character of what Toby Nakamura loved has moved, year by year, on the four strongest dimensions.
Needs ratings across at least two years, with three or more in each.
Read this chart
One line per dimension, one point per year: the average character of what you loved that year. A line that climbs means your favourites moved toward that pole.

Logs
Nice, and I put forty hours in, so clearly it works. But I kept waiting for the game to push back and it never did.
♥ 4 · 2 comments · 9/6/2026The only game where the progress is entirely in your head. No upgrades, no levels, just knowing. The moment the loop clicks is the best twenty seconds in the medium.
Mostly about the craft.
♥ 5 · 8/17/2026A deduction game that trusts you completely. I kept a notebook. When the last three names fell into place I said something out loud that I will not repeat.
♥ 4 · 8/16/2026A film that stops for a lecture every twenty minutes. The docking scene is incredible. The rest of it should have been a game.
Mostly about the pace.
♥ 1 · 8/11/2026A platformer about anxiety that respects you enough to be hard. Assist mode is there and the game never judges you for it. Chapter seven B-side broke me and then I broke it.
Mostly about the craft, how it felt.
♥ 3 · 1 comment · 7/16/2026Got lost for ten hours and never once felt cheated. The map is the game. Charms are the best build system in a metroidvania, full stop.
Mostly about the craft, comfort.
♥ 2 · 2 comments · 5/31/2026Every run is a small argument with probability. The Silent is the best designed character in any deckbuilder.
Mostly about the performances, the craft.
♥ 1 · 2 comments · 5/29/2026Rating key: ★★★★★ loved, ★★½ mixed.
