Dimension

One of fourteen qualities every title is read on, from warm to bleak, contemplative to relentless, pulp to prestige. Each is a scale from 0 to 4, judged once per title from its own description and reviews.

Lean

Where your loved titles sit on a dimension compared with the ones you rated low. A lean toward "open" means the things you love leave more unresolved than the things you do not. Recent ratings count a little more than old ones.

Compared with other curators

Almost everyone leans toward craft and prestige, so a lean only says something when it is unusual. "More interior than most curators" means your lean sits well above the middle of everyone with a profile.

Archetype

A name for the shape of your leans, picked from twelve. It is a reading, not a box: the runner-up is shown too, and it changes as your ratings do.

Chance you'd rate it 4★ or more

Our prediction for a title you have not logged, from your leans, the closest things you rated, your record in its genres, and the crowd. Shown as a probability because that is what it is; the Taste tab keeps score of how often we were right.

Fingerprint

All fourteen leans drawn as one shape, so two people can be laid over each other and the differences seen at once.

Taste map

Every curator placed on the two directions taste varies most along, computed from all profiles. People with similar leans land near each other; archetypes form neighbourhoods.

Drift

How the character of what you loved has moved year by year, on your strongest dimensions. Your taste can change; this shows where it did.

Against the crowd

Each rated title plotted with your stars against the audience's average. Above the line you were kinder than the crowd; below it, harsher.

Twin and opposite

The curator whose leans match yours most closely, and the one whose leans differ in the most interesting way, both from the same fourteen numbers.

Standing

Where you sit among curators with a profile on a few simple counts: how harsh you rate, how much you have rated, how far you lean on your strongest dimension.

Character

The dimensions of a title, on its own page, as bars between the two poles. The five that define it come first.
