But will the unpredictable path you create lead you to the rumored Room 46? Simon P. Jones inherits the sprawling Mt. Holly Estate from his late great-uncle, Herbert S. Sinclair, but the bequest comes with a single peculiar condition: to claim his inheritance, Simon must find a hidden forty-sixth room concealed somewhere within the manor. The house is no ordinary mansion. Through a strange technique called drafting, its forty-five known rooms can be conjured and rearranged, so its layout is reborn anew each day. As Simon navigates the ever-shifting halls in search of that elusive final room, he uncovers scattered clues to the estate's history and to the wider world beyond it, a low-fantasy realm where airships are commonplace and old secrets run deep. Those clues gradually point toward a more personal mystery: the disappearance of Simon's mother, the children's book author Mary Jones.
